It’s a beautiful day! The sun is shining and the temperature is heading in the right directions, which means you have no excuse not to make the drive out to Mississauga to attend the GTA Home and Reno Show! We spent all day yesterday wandering the aisles, meetings the vendors and taking in tons of informative presentations (always our favourite part). Here are our highlights, but be sure to head out and experience it all firsthand.
Micro-Natur by Bonneville Homes
If you love the idea of a tiny house, but hate the thought of having to climb up and down a ladder from your bed to use the bathroom at night, then this beautiful Micro-Loft™ from Bonneville Homes may be just what you’ve been waiting for!
When you tour this 1008. sq.ft home, you’ll be surprised by how spacious it feels. While it is compact, you don’t get that feeling of long-term camping that more standard tiny homes can have. And the best part? A rooftop terrace that looks like it was just made for a patio season Friday afternoon!
Outdoor Living
One of the best things about the GTA Home and Reno show is that it always feels like the kickoff for spring and summer outdoor living. Yes, we know that there is a lot of chilly weather left before we can get really invested in flipflop season, but we can definitely start thinking about it.
To get homeowners in a sunnier sort of mood, the pool and spa vendors, landscapers and paver specialists are set up all around the show floor to help eager home improvers turn their backyards into getaways.
Two outdoor leisure vendors to keep an eye out for at this years GTA Home and Reno Show are SpaBerry and Backyard Golf Greens.
SpaBerry is a portable, hard side spa, that boasts of being low maintenance and light enough (at just 400 lbs dry) to go anywhere –even indoors. SpaBerry is Canadian made and perfectly sized for one or two occupants.
Backyard Golf Greens is prepared to ensure that your backyard reno is a hole in one –literally! This all-Canadian company provides custom designed synthetic putting and chipping practice greens to suit any outdoor space, including standard backyards and cottages.
At the GTA Home and Reno show, you can see a fully set up golf green at the south west section of the facility.
The Casalife Main Stage
Admittedly, our time at the GTA Home and Reno show always revolves around what’s happening on the main stage. Once again, we arrived to the show bright and early for the trade presentation, which is where you can always here the absolute best tips and information. This year, the presentation (hosted by Samantha Sannella) was about how avoiding heartaches, hassles and headaches during a renovation. The presentation addressed designers specifically. However, be on the look out for a post here on eieihome.com that provides the homeowners spin on the subject.
We also spent time listening to Colour expert –Janice Fedak’s talk on colour trends, and taking in Chris Palmers demonstration on pro-level finishing tips.
Heading to the show this weekend? Be sure to take in the always entertaining design duo of Colin and Justin, sit down for a must-see home safety presentation by Damon Bennett, and take notes on Linda Mazur’s lessons on how to create a luxurious bath …as well as many other presentations.
