Now that Halloween is well behind us and Remembrance Day has been respectfully observed, it’s time to deck the halls, living room, kitchen, and for some of us, every square inch of the house with holiday cheer!
What do you have in mind for this year’s festive décor? Are you planning a classic red, white and green theme? Will you add some fun with loads of brights? Or perhaps, you simply like to augment your home’s existing style with neutrals or metallics? Whatever your Christmas or Hanukah decorating style happens to be, you’re sure to love this year’s trending looks.
This year, eieihome had the privilege of taking a tour through Canadian Tire’s Christmas House, where room after room was decked to the nines in one of six gorgeous Christmas colour themes. Here is what we saw:
This year’s colour of the season is Serene Rose, a festive nod to millennial pink and rose gold. You can say yes way rosé to this deliciously light yet sophisticated take on holiday décor. This colour scheme is fresh and on-trend. It helps create a festive holiday feel that’s highly instagrammable, inviting and warm.
Serene Rose pairs wonderfully with winter whites, burgundy, and champagne. You’ll find it on ornaments, lanterns, wreaths and décor accents. It looks just as fetching in metallic incarnations as it does in matte finishes and soft textiles, making it an easy way to add new life to your holiday decorating.
It simply wouldn’t be Christmas without the timeless presence of red and white, and this year’s red couldn’t be any more Canadian if it tried. Cozy plaids, checks, and cheeky Canadiana-inspired ornaments adorned table and tree, featuring beavers, maple syrup, hockey, and even a Canadian passport. But no poutine or butter tart ornaments? Hmm, maybe next time.
This year’s red screams cottage life chic, and positively shines surrounded by soothing natural accents of birch bark, greenery, and wood. The look is natural, comforting and easy to pull off, in every abode, from a wintery cottage to a high rise home sweet home.
Silver and White
This year’s white is cozy and soft, realized in faux fur, feathers, and icy shapes. Hints of opal inject subtle colour, while accents of silver add festive shine to give this year’s winter white loads of texture.
Create an engaging monochromatic look or use this year’s white to mix and mingle with any of the season’s other festive hues.
Have a blue Christmas in 2018, with rich, deep shades of indigo, cobalt, and midnight. The overall look of this rich new blue is undeniably different for this time of year, offering a more soulful take on the celebratory season.
Gold and white are both natural companions for this year’s blue, and you may also find that the earthy, forest greens that have been seen on runways and in home décor this year will also make a stunning match for the holiday season’s moody blue.
Youthful, fun, and filled with candy-coated cheer, brights are back and better than ever before. Children and adults alike will be all smiles at the sight of ornaments, textiles, and baubles in fuchsia, teal, lemon yellow, lime green and more. Along with the rainbow of feel-good colours are fun and unexpected characters like adorable animals, fruit, candy, and cacti.
Tis the season to infuse your home with all the joy and good cheer of the holidays. Take inspiration from this exciting new looks. Mix and match, add to current collections or go all-in on a whole new look. Because decorating your home should always be fun, especially at this time of year!
