6 Daring Ways to Add Colour to Your Home

We all have décor elements that we prefer over others but everyone needs a little bit of colour in their life to jazz things up. This year, be adventurous and add colour to your home using these six daring tips and tricks.

Boastful Bookshelves

If you are a collector of books and trinkets that you enjoy showing off, consider brightening up their display case with eye-popping colour. Pick a colour that will mesh well with surrounding décor and paint the inside of the shelf for a bold, yet low key statement that is sure to impress guests.

Fantastic Front Door

The front door and entryway of your home are the first impression you make to guests and those who pass by. Make it stand out throughout the neighbourhood with a burst of colour. Paint your front door a shade other than white or black to add character to the exterior of your home. Blue, green and red are our favourites, but why not be original and think of something else? Have fun with it and don’t be afraid of experimenting!

Animated Appliances

Remember back in the day when ovens could be found in red and a fridge was lime green? We wouldn’t recommend putting these together but why not be brave and try investing in colourful appliances. If you’re not interested in changing the appliances in your kitchen, consider adding a pop of colour to your laundry room. Washing machines and dryers can be found in a variety of colours these days – the options are endless!

Wicked Wallpaper

Wallpaper may seem like a thing of a past but designers insist on doing a statement wall with wallpaper to add pizazz and uniqueness to your home. If you’re considering adding wallpaper to a room in your home that is quite small, avoid dark colours with small patterns or prints. It will make the room look small and gloomy.

Funky Furniture

Ditch boring sofas and dull armchairs this year. Give a bright couch and/or patterned armchair a try to liven up the room. Some people may think that adding bold furniture to a room could be too final and busy but if you do it properly, it’ll look exceptional. Instead of buying matching furniture, buy pieces that can mix and match well.

Balance with Black

Don’t forget black. Black is a staple component of design that can be brought into a room to bring everything together. By adding an element of black, like a light fixture, artwork or a couch, you bring the rest of the colours in the space together to complete the look and feel of the room.
