7 times area rugs enlivened a room design

Now that your home has been (or is about to be?) cleaned and organized for spring, you might be interested in doing some room design updates, here and there. As you probably already know, accessories make the perfect commitment-free vehicle for keeping your home on trend and fresh. You can bring some of the season’s new colours and styles into an existing design without having to do too much work…which means more time to sit back and enjoy your handy work.

When it comes to making the most impact with the least effort, you need only to unfurl a new rug. And not just any rug, but a statement rug!

7 of our favourite statement rug designs

We absolutely LOVE a statement rug! Add an air of playfulness with a faux flokati or embrace the paired down elegance of a sleek sisal. Choose a rug that is vibrantly coloured or neutral, wildly patterned or textured. Even if nothing else is changed in a room, the addition of a new rug can really freshen things up.

Adding a statement rug

While your rug may seem like a secondary aspect of your room design in comparison with the furnishing, in reality it is among the most important details. That is because an area rug anchors the room and provides definition.

The addition of a rug  completes a space. Remove your rug from the living room and notice just how empty the room looks!

Actually, the best example of this can actually been seen in your outdoor space. Set a seating group out on your deck or patio and on its own, it simply looks like patio furniture. However, if you add an  outdoor rug, the space instantly looks dressed up and unified.

No matter what style of rug you prefer, there is one rule that should be followed and that’s in regard to the rug’s size. Ensure that your rug fits the size of your space. You don’t want wall-to-wall and you certainly don’t want much too small.
