It’s that time of year again –spring! This is when many homeowners think about clearing out the clutter, tidying up the house and breathing new life their landscaping. However, we know that there is another way to reinvigorate a home’s curb appeal aside from tending to the garden … and that’s with exterior paint.
eiei home spoke with Christine Delongte —Vice President of Perfect Painters, about the many ways homeowners can improve their home’s curb appeal with professionally applied exterior paint.
A fresh coat of paint applied to the front door, garage door, trim and fascia can go a long way toward improving the look and perceived age of a home, particularly if these exterior surfaces were previously discoloured, peeling or worn. However, it’s important to note that exterior paint treatments are not limited to these areas.
“We can [also] paint siding, brick, and stucco,” Delongte says. “[The difference is] that we would use a special paint that is best suited for the job”. This means that you can transform the entire look of your home without having to replace the siding. That’s a real budget saver!
When it comes to selecting your paint, it isn’t just the paint colour that homeowners need to consider. Delongte recommends always opting for a good grade of paint from top name suppliers.
“These types of paints last longer and give a better finish,” Delongte explains.
Working with a Professional
“Your home is one of your biggest investments. You don’t want to compromise on quality,” Delongte says. “Hire an expert; it will make a big difference in the overall look and value of your home”.
The quality of your paint job is especially important when thinking about your home’s resale value. You’ll need a clean, meticulously applied finish, to ensure the best first impression possible.
“Our [painters] are highly skilled. [They] have been tested offsite for days before [being] put in the field. We have painters that have been painting for over 20 years, [and] we offer a 1 year warranty on all [of our work]”.
In Ontario on increasing number of home are two storeys high or more, making safety another important reason to hire a professional painter.
“Our [painters] have been trained and [are] WSIB certified,” Delongte explains. “If you choose a company that does not have WSIB and an accident occurs, the homeowner may be liable. This is something no one should take lightly”.
