We were invited to a blogger event hosted by Décor-Rest Furniture LTD (a trade-only showroom) called Living with Color in the Home. We were served fantastic food, shown their fantastic showroom and best of all gained a sneak peek into 2013 and 2014’s upcoming color trends!
Para Paints presented their new color board display, something that they won’t be releasing to the public until the 2013 Interior Design Show (IDS13). They spent an enormous amount of time putting the board together so that you could take a little windowed square cut out and move it around and find out the best color combinations for your home. The colors they’ve picked are based on the 2012-2014 color trends, as well as their popular picks. Janine May, PARA Designer/Architect Representative, and Garry Belfall, the Para Senior Brand Manager, explained how one color could be used as an accent wall, another as the neutral, and the other two as accent pieces and/or curtains. Needless to say all of us bloggers were very impressed and excited about the board.
Janine went on to explain that due to the more positive socio-economic conditions that the colours of 2013 will be more vibrant and saturated. Think peacock!
After the color presentation Janice Saulnier of Decor Rest demonstrated how colors and textures can be used to decorate.
But… what are the color trends? There is a wide selection of colors to choose from this year. However, at the end of the event we concluded that anything goes this year. This years true trend? Do what you want to do! Just don’t forget the rule of thumb, pair your colors with neutrals!
And now what you have been waiting for! Here is 2013’s Color Forecast by Para Paint. And we know we’re in love with it.
Blue, Teal & Navy: Bringing back that vacation vibe in color
Green & Chartreuse: This color trend is organic and sophisticated
Purple & Violet: It’s regal, soothing and here to stay
Orange Appeal: Bold orange is a high energy eye-popper
Yellow: A color antidote to a dreary economic climate
