Emerald Forest in Alliston by Royal Park

What was the objective for this space?

The objective was to create an inviting home with colours and finishes for a young buyer to enjoy.

What was an unexpected element used in the space design?

The built-in wall unit on the staircase landing was definitely the show stopper piece in this home. We were thrilled with the outcome, and it was a clever use of a space in the home that otherwise typically goes unused. It turned out to be a spectacular addition.

What element do you feel makes the strongest statement in the space?

The white transitional kitchen in this home is inviting and very functional.  By enlarging the countertop of the island to include a table it allows for the children to be close by while the family is preparing meals.

What was the client’s objective for this space?

For this project we were creating an elegant space to appeal to a mature family looking to upgrade with a new home.

Where did you draw inspiration for the design?

The inspiration for this space came from finding how we could use already-owned furniture in a completely new setting. Because we already had the furniture we couldn’t have any preconceived ideas until we could see what the furniture would look like in each area and what we could do with it.

What was an unexpected element used in the space design?

In the master ensuite we installed a caesarstone quartz wall. Most homeowners and designers don’t typically consider this material as an option on a wall, and it’s usually limited to use as countertops. For us in this space it was the perfect backdrop for the sensational freestanding tub.

What element makes the strongest statement in the space?

The open concept kitchen and family room is a great joint space that works well together, and the many windows provide an excellent amount of natural light.

How did the design experience compare to your typical design projects?

It was challenging to make some of the already existing pieces work in the new spaces, but in the end everything looked as though it was hand picked for this space.
