Easy Springtime Home Makeovers

If you’ve had enough of winter’s chilly gray, now is a great time to get a jumpstart on spring! It’s time to clean up, clear out, and redecorate your home. Here are a few projects that are bound to put a little spring into your step and your home.

  1. Clear Out Christmas

While everyone has packed up the indoor holiday décor, there are a lot of homes that are still wearing their holiday cheer on the outside. If some good weather comes your way on the weekend, take advantage of the opportunity to remove those holiday lights. And yes, leaving them up year-round really is a big no-no.

  1. Nothing Says Springtime Like Flowers

While the tulips aren’t quite ready to pop their heads up out of the ground, now is the perfect time to pick some up from your local florist or grocery store. Display them in a vase in different rooms in your home. You won’t believe how cheery a bright bouquet can be, even on the blusteriest day.

  1. Redecorate a Bedroom

Bedroom facelifts are the easiest to undertake, because it requires very little effort to make a big change. Leave all of the furniture the same, but splash a new coat of paint onto the walls. Then, change things up with some new bedding, window treatments, and accessories.

  1. Create a Feature Wall in the Powder Room

Another easy room to rework is the powder room. Because it’s small in size, you can make a high-impact change on even the smallest budget. Start by repainting three of the walls, then designate the forth as a feature wall. To make your feature wall stand out, add wallpaper, shiplap, or tile rather than adding paint. Then switch up your faucets, mirror, any vanity hardware and add new décor accents.

  1. Slip Into Something New

Slipcovers and chair offers an easy way to update the seating in your living room, family room, or dining room.  Chair covers and slip covers can help you try on a new décor style without having to commit to replacing your furniture. For instance, farmhouse decorating is very accommodating to white, or off-white coloured slip covers.

  1. Throw on a new look

If you’re looking for a change that’s practically effortless, simply change up the throw pillows in your living room. Try mixing it up with different colours, patterns and textures.

  1. Clear Out the Clutter

A big change that you can make to your home that doesn’t require you to spend a single time does not involve adding anything new.  Reduce the knickknacks, magazines, toys, and other clutter in your home’s common areas. Don’t just clean them up, but clear them out. It will make your home look tidier and you won’t have to spend as much time on your regular cleanup.
