Incredible Holiday Decor

The holiday season is made for indulging in luxury decor. Whether you enjoy inviting family and friends over for a holiday dinner or are hosting a major New Year’s Eve soiree, make sure your house has high quality decorations that really wow.

Non-Traditional Foliage

Anyone can outfit their home with traditional greenery like fir trees, poinsettias or mistletoe. But why not try decorating your dining room or entry way with non-traditional holiday foliage? The Inspired Room has fabulous suggestions for cutting-edge ways to deck the halls with bonsai trees, sticks and twigs. These large twigs potted in a glass vase with white rocks give the room a cool winter wonderland feel.

You can also include this concept when it comes to picking a Christmas tree. Try a fake tree in a startling non-traditional color like white, silver, or gold. Go monochromatic with the decorations for a sleek, modern vibe. Or create a pretty contrast by covering a stark white tree in boldly colored ornaments.

Unique Table Setting

The holidays are all about eating. Give your guests something to talk about when they sit down to dinner with a really unique table setting. Rather than a traditional place setting, go for a theme that appeals to your style sensibility. If you love glitz and glamour, try a table setting in all silver with a sleek, high-impact centerpiece.

Candle Display

Candles are a must-have during the holiday season. They give any room a warm, cozy glow that’s perfect for this chilly time of year. Instead of peppering the room with a few choice candles, go for a whole display. A great candle display can add drama to a space — especially in the entry-way or living room. Highlight a staircase by lining one side of it with candles in different sizes and shapes. (Make sure you take the usual precautions when decorating with lit candles; snuff them out when you leave the house, and keep your eye on the children.) Give definition to a large wall with a series of pretty hanging votives. Or create a delicate coffee table display like this one from Better Homes and Gardens. This centerpiece’s mix of moss and ornate votive cups is luxurious without being over the top.

Over-Sized Garland

The holidays are a season where it’s okay to go big. Use an over-sized garland to tie a room together. Trim a bannister or decorate a mantle with a large garland in an unexpected material. Don’t be afraid to combine the garland with a luxury ribbon in velvet or satin, pine cones, or even Christmas lights. Martha Stewart suggests garlands made from crocheted stars, metallic materials and old Christmas cards.’Tis the season to deck the halls. With creative, luxurious decorations, you can turn your house into a winter wonderland that will really give guests something to talk about.
