Must-Sees at this year’s National Home Show

Do you have plans this weekend? Well, you may want to rethink them! The National Home Show and Canada Blooms event opened its doors last Friday and there is plenty to be excited about! If you’re planning a home renovation or looking forward to planting some flowers in your yard, you won’t want to miss this event, on now at the Direct Energy Centre at the Exhibition Place in Toronto until Sunday, March 22.

We’ve taken a tour of the grounds and want to give you a taste of what this event has to offer. With over 700 exhibitors featuring every home product and renovation under the sun, including landscaping, pools, closets, home additions, decor and more, there is no shortage of home reno inspiration. Here are some of the must-sees you won’t want to miss:

The eieihome booth!

Stop by our booth for a quick chat! We’d love to hear your thoughts about our website, or perhaps you can share with us some of your home improvement or renovation stories. We’d love to feature them on our blog. While we chat, you can dig into a hot bag of buttery popcorn. We’ll be serving fresh bags for every visitor that comes by the booth.

The Dream Homes

This year, the National Home Show will be featuring two fully-furnished homes for visitors to walk through. We took a walk through the Onyx, a cozy and intimate country home with an urban twist. The house itself boasts decor pieces that are sure to be conversation-starters, including industrial-like metal decor. Interior designers Glen Peloso and Jamie Alexander furnished the place with the hottest colours of the year – gold and blue. They seem like untraditional decor colours, but they translate seamlessly throughout the place.

Oro Caffè

The National Home Show is over 50,000 square feet! That’s a lot of walking and visiting. Take a quick break and stop by the Oro Caffè booth, nestled between the eieihome booth and the dream homes. They’ll be serving up dozens of coffee samples, which will give you the perfect boost to continue walking through the show.

Canada Blooms

The first day of spring is March 20, which means it’s time to start thinking about your garden and landscaping. You’ll definitely want to stop into this show, located in the Direct Energy Centre alongside the National Home Show. Once you walk in, you’ll be quickly overwhelmed by the beautiful scents of flowers. You won’t be able to pick out which flower it is! Take a walk through and be inspired by the many outdoor landscaping oasis ideas. Between the gardens, gazebos and outdoor furniture, it will be easy for you to imagine your own space. If you’re interested in flowers, visit the Canada Blooms flower market, where you can pick up orchids. There are plenty of colours to choose from.

If you’ve brought the kids along, let them roam through the giant outdoor playground – it’s a large treehouse complete with a slide! Maybe the kid in you won’t be able to resist!

Recharge Zone

Need a quick break? Maybe your phone is losing battery and you’re not ready to pack it in. The show has conveniently placed a recharging zone in the middle of the centre. There are couches and lounge chairs, so visitors can take a rest before continuing. Plus, you’ll be able to charge your phone or tablet as you rest! There’s every charger imaginable, so it won’t be hard to give your tech gadgets a boost.

The Shepherd Hut

One of the coolest things we’ve spotted at the show (so far) is the Gute living space. It’s essentially a home addition, a prefurnished living space, complete with a double bed, sink and cabinetry. Each hut can be customized to your needs; it can function as a home office, guest bedroom or playroom. What makes it so convenient is it can be rolled onto your property and stay outside all year round. The 8′ x 12′ unit pictured below starts at $16,000. Take a quick tour of the hut and see if you can visualize this in your outdoor space come spring.
