What You Need to Know about Electrical Safety

Ontario’s Electrical Safety Authority wants you to be safe this summer and to make sure you are, it has released a video explaining electrical safety in the home. Now is the time to check for worn electrical wires; 2/3 of house fires start with bad wires. Flickering lights are a good indicator of trouble as are breakers that keep tripping.

Don’t take short cuts when renovating. 60% of homeowners who do their own electrical work admit they are not very experienced with it and 1/3 of homeowners think it legal to hire a handyman for electrical work. It’s not. According to the Authority, There are 2000 electrical injuries a year in Ontario and 46 per cent of electrical deaths happen at home. Those are statistics you don’t want any part of.
