Since 1919 every Barrymore sofa and chair has been made right here in Toronto. We live and work in the community so our commitment to the environment is personal and long standing. We'd be pleased to take you on a factory tour: see first hand how Barrymore uses environmentally friendly materials and manufacturing processes to make the most beautiful, comfortable sofas and chairs in the world. • Barrymore has reduced VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) emissions generated by its wood finishing process to minimal levels. Even though our production has grown steadily over the last ten years, our total VOC emissions have been reduced by more than 95%. • Barrymore sofas and chairs begin with frames made from hardwood harvested in Canada under strict government supervision. Clear cutting methods are not used to harvest these woods. • Barrymore flyers and postcards are printed on waterless presses. Although more expensive, a waterless press produces a higher quality image and reduces harmful emissions to minimal levels. Waterless presses have no VOC emissions and do not produce waste water contamination. • Barrymore recycles thousands of pounds of scrap material every year, including seating foam, Dacron fibre, scrap wood and fabric. • Barrymore uses seating foam produced using the most environmentally friendly processes and equipment. Barrymore's seating foam is produced without VOC emissions and does not contain or use brominated additives, nor are freons used in the manufacturing process.
