HARDWOOD... Through advancements in finish technologies and superior construction techniques, manufacturers of hardwood floors are able to produce tougher finishes and more stable products. This means quality engineered hardwood floors can go in almost any room in the home and over a wide variety of sub floors, including dry, fully-cured concrete slabs. Although the end results may look the same there are distinct advantages for using each type under different applications. Solid Hardwood Floors A solid piece of hardwood cut into wood planks that are generally 3/4" thick. (Above ground level areas only, 1/2" plywood subfloor required for installation.) Engineered Hardwood Floors Several plies of wood that are glued and laminated together to form a wood plank. Range in thickness from 1/4" to 3/4". (Can be installed almost anywhere in the home, including over dry concrete slabs.) HARDWOOD EVOLUTION Hardwood is moving more toward distressed planks, planks in wider widths, and exotic woods. It's no longer just plain maple or oak. We're seeing more mahogany, cherry, teak, and walnut. Also, mixing woods is becoming increasingly popular. Engineered hardwoods have taken over the market. Due to versatility of installation methods and the impact of 3/4" solid products on forest supplies we have seen a major shift in the market. CORK... Cork flooring is one of the most resilient and durable floor coverings available today. Cork is the bark of the cork oak tree which grows in the western Mediterranean. The cork bark is formed from layers of extremely strong and flexible cell walls that are waterproof and airtight. The cork tree produces this bark to provide protection from droughts, fires, temperature fluctuations and other damaging environmental conditions. This tree has a life span of 200 - 500 years. The first stripping takes place when the tree is 25 years old, thereafter, stripping is repeated every nine years. At no time during the life of the tree is more that 50% of the bark removed. Harvesting of cork is not harmful to the tree. During the cork manufacturing process, all material is either used for a finished product, or to generate energy used in the fabricating process. Very little, if any material is wasted. This makes cork one of the most environmentally sensitive products available. Laminate floorings natural colors, satin surface gloss and texture set new standards for styling with an outstanding array of natural designs and elegant colors. One of the advantages of laminate flooring is that they are built for todays active households. They also have the advantage of low maintenance, highly durability and offer a wide range of beautiful designs, both tile and wood looks. With the introduction of glueless technology, laminate flooring installation has reached new heights of convenience. LAMINATE... Laminate flooring can be installed over many existing floors, including wood, tile, vinyl, and ceramic. Laminate flooring systems are floating, which means they do not fasten directly to the plywood sub floor (or existing flooring material) with nails or glue. VINYL, LUXURY VINYL TILE, VINYL PLANK... Vinyl sheet flooring is by far one of the most versatile types of flooring available today. Offered in hundreds of styles and colors and priced for every budget, you are sure to find one for your home. Vinyl sheet flooring is warm to the touch, comfortable underfoot and easy to care for making it ideal for today's busy lifestyles. No matter what project you plan, we have the perfect resilient tile for you. Easy to handle square tiles or planks can change the look of your room in no time at all. Luxury tiles and planks are available in a wide range of designs and colors, from some great product lines like Mannington Adura, Armstrong Alterna and Congoleum DuraCeramic. These tiles are definitely one of the most beautiful, durable and realistic looking floors on the market today. There is virtually no place in your home that you can't use this product, and it is probably one of the easiest floors to care for. CARPET... There are now a wider selection of patterns, textures and colors than ever before. Advancements in fiber technology and carpet construction are making carpets softer, more stain-resistant and helping carpets retain their like-new appearance far better than ever before. Berber carpets, patterned carpets and textured cut pile saxonies are among the most popular choices today. Even carpet cushions have dramatically been improved. Carpet cushions are now available that will block spills from penetrating the cushion and soaking into the sub-floor as well as eliminating odors in your carpet, making them perfect for families with small children and pets Listed below are some of the advantages to using carpet in your home: Choice: A limitless array of colours, textures, designs and qualities. It's a case of any colour you like with carpet! Luxury: Soft, tactile, comfortable and cozy, nothing quite matches the feel of padding around on a soft, sumptuous carpet. It is sheer luxury underfoot! Sound: Noiseless underfoot, it absorbs sound. Due to its soft cushioning properties, carpet virtually eliminates impact noise and results in a calmer, stress free environment. Properly laid carpet absorbs up to 45db resulting in a quieter life! Safety: Soft and forgiving, carpet is a safe and gentle surface for feet – particularly for little ones! Insulation: Don't get cold feet with carpet! Carpet is heat retentive whereas 15% of all household heat disappears through un-insulated floors. Hygiene: Carpet acts like a sponge, trapping airborne dust with the result that the dust content in carpeted rooms is usually lower than in rooms with smooth floor coverings. The scientific evidence shows carpet to be the 'healthy flooring' option. Value For Your Money: Carpet is manufactured at various price points, so whether it is a short term quick fix or a long term need, there is something for everybody! AREA RUGS... Nothing can finally "pull a room together" like an area rug. Area rugs have become an integral component of interior design, and are a trend that will continue for some time to come! As hard surface floors are becoming ever more popular, area rugs bring warmth and style to a hard surface floor and help to decrease the noise level of foot traffic. With hundreds of color and style combinations available in a variety of sizes, the selection of area rugs available is literally endless. We also have a custom area rug made for you to perfectly reflect your color choices and taste. Come in and see what we have to offer and talk with one of our friendly staff.
