Edgewater Stonemasons

Kingston, Ontario

ABOUT

Edgewater Stonemasons was formed to address the shortage of masons with stone training in the Kingston area. Since beginning operations in 2010 we have successfully completed projects for a variety of public, commercial and residential clients. Before launching Edgewater, Craig Beattie completed the Heritage Masonry program in Perth, as well as an apprenticeship under Master Mason Robert Watt (www.rjwgem.com). The apprenticeship was served on some of the most architecturally significant buildings across the country, including the West Block of Parliament, the Governor General's Residence, and Provincial Legislative Buildings in Saskatchewan and New Brunswick. Edgewater was chosen as our name to recognize Kingston’s unique relationship with its surrounding waterways. As a strategic military location, a shipbuilding hub, and a destination for stonemasons who followed the RIdeau Canal to Kingston in search of work, the development of the city has always been closely tied to the water.
